A Step of Faith

At the beginning of this year, we sent our School of Ministry Development (SOMD) off to Germany and the Czech Republic for a six week outreach.  The second half of this outreach was spent in the Czech Republic, in a border town called Cheb.  There, they ministered to homeless people, prostitutes, and the youth in the city and the surrounding towns.  It was here that one of our SOMD students, Jake, really saw the Lord work in miraculous ways as he stepped out in faith when the Lord asked him to move!

“When we first got to Cheb in the Czech Republic, I felt God beginning to give me His heart for the people there.  I felt like He wanted to perform miracles in that city to show His people how much He loved them.  To say I was excited to go out and share about Jesus and to be a part of what the Lord wanted to do in Cheb would be an understatement!  Then, when one of my friends ended up in the hospital with a kidney stone, and after we spent two days getting registered in the Czech, I really started to get anxious.

On our first day of actual ministry in Cheb, one of my teammates, Ian, and I were walking through an outdoor gym/park.  I suddenly felt like God was telling me to go sit down on one of the park’s benches.  As we were sitting, Ian, who was dealing with some back pain, looked down to check his legs and noticed that they weren’t even.  One of his legs was longer than the other, which was the cause for the pain in his back.  So I got down on my knees in front of him and picked up both of his legs, and I asked the Lord to grow the leg that was shorter until both legs were even.

As I prayed, Ian’s leg grew almost an inch right there in my hands!

When we were done, Ian stood up, and his back pain was gone!

After this, we began walking once again.  I noticed a man running as we passed a track, and I felt like God was telling me that this man’s knee was hurting, and that I should go pray for him.  So we sat down nearby and waited for a good twenty minutes while he finished his run.  When he was done, we walked up to him and told him why we were there, that we felt like God told us that he had some pain in his knee, and that the Lord wanted to heal it.

This man looked at us in a crazy way, and told us that his knee did hurt! “But,” he said, “I don’t believe in God.”  We asked him if we could pray for him anyway.  “Sure, why not?“, he replied, and began explaining to us that he had gone to several doctors, and none of them knew what was wrong.

We prayed for him, that his pain would be gone in the name of Jesus, and his knee was healed instantly!

When we finished, he just stared at us in wide-eyed disbelief for a few minutes.  He was amazed!

God healing this man’s knee then opened the door for us to be able to spend more time with him, and to share about who God is, and that He loves him so much.  I trust that God will continue to work in this guy’s life, and that He will keep pursuing him!”

JakeJake did a winter Discipleship Training School with us in 2014, and returned to YWAM Louisville for the Fall 2015 School of Ministry Development.  After graduating the School of Ministry Development in late February, Jake is currently at home telling people about Jesus, praying for God to heal people, and raising support to come back on staff with YWAM Louisville!
