Kicking off the week with a quick reminder of why we do what we do.
When God called Abraham (back in his “Abram” days), he gave him both a faith-stretching challenge – “Go! Where? Tell you later” – and a mind-boggling promise:
“I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
God’s promise to Abraham: “I’ll bless you, and you’ll bless others.” We’re included in “all families on earth” and Abraham’s spiritual descendants; as such, we’re happy beneficiaries of that fulfilled promise.
And we, too, are blessed to be a blessing. What greater blessing than Jesus and all that’s ours in him? What greater privilege than carrying that blessing to all peoples on earth?
