Why Louisville?

We could tout the strategic implications of pioneering in a city located only 500 miles from nearly half the population of the United States, in a region where YWAM training centers are few. We could praise Louisville's diversity and the opportunities to minister to the nations as they converge in our backyard. We could rave about our beautiful parks or favorite coffee shops. But when you get right down to it, we moved to Louisville, KY for one reason: it's where God told us to go.

That said, there's plenty to recommend the place. Louisville's been called the northernmost city in the South and the southernmost city in the North, but that's just the beginning of its cultural variety. Louisville not only hosts the Kentucky Derby (and accompanying festivities, including the Thunder Over Louisville airshow); it's also home to America's oldest free professional Shakespeare festival. It's the home town of Thomas Edison and Tom Cruise as well as Diane Sawyer and Muhammad Ali, boasts an acclaimed concrete skate park and the nation's largest urban forest, and gave birth to the famous Slugger baseball bat, the melody to "Happy Birthday," the cheeseburger, and chewing gum.

We love our city, and we'd love for you to visit so we can show it off to you. In the meantime, if you have questions about the weather, how to pronounce the name like a local, or why there are statues of horses scattered around town, check out these links. Or these.
